There has always been one paintball mask I never could never figure out why it was so popular, and that's the JT Flex series. These masks are wildly popular because they offer a little more than just comfort and great clarity. The soft chin piece is idolized for its ability to deflect paintballs. I can understand how that is great, but have you ever felt it? Its insanely flexible... which not only means paintballs have a lesser chance of breaking on it, but also means there is a higher chance of a paintball passing right through it and into your teeth. Trust me I've seen it. A friend of mine swore up and down the JT Flex was the greatest mask you could have until he took a hit to the chin. Turns out a flexible chin piece isn't that great at STOPPING paintballs when you take a direct hit.

Imagine getting bunkered in the face wearing one of those. Not a pretty picture if you ask me. I think I'll stick with paintball masks that protect my mouth area, let alone my WHOLE face.
