My Take on Practice Paint and Paintball Seconds
My experience in buying seconds from online stores, and my experience buying from eBay users. The pluses and downsides of both.
Back when I was obsessed with finding the ultimate deal on paintballs, I constantly scoured the internet for boxes of cheap paintballs. Eventually I stumbled across what I thought looked to be a promising deal, but one thing confused me... what where over-run paintballs? I automatically assumed they were just seconds, and happily bought 10 cases for $340, which I thought was a good deal. I'm pretty sure the hours in front of a computer screen fried my brain, so by that point I was ready to just buy something.
The paint came and low and behold there were multiple broken paintballs in each bag. Ah-ha, well that explains the "over-runs" part. The funny thing was I actually spent time cleaning about 3 cases worth of paintballs, only to find that the paint was still crap even when it was clean. Cheap, brittle, dimpled... crap. I shot seconds of seconds that flew straighter than that junk.
The moral of the story is never buy "over-runs," no matter how tempting the offer may seem, or how fried your brain is.
Whats a better choice? I've had some success with seconds, but I still hate to chance it. Especially if you can find a cheap case of NEW white box paintballs for a mere $7 bucks more (I've had much more success with white box paintballs). Sometimes you can find them on amazon for $23 a case, but sadly, I think those days are gone. Your best bet for finding cheap paintballs, paintballs that are better than seconds, is to hit up eBay.
