How to Make Paintball Avatars for Forums

You could just use the paintball avatars I've made in the Paintball Avatars section of this site, but I figure that even though they are the coolest paintball avatars on the internet, you'll probably want to make a paintball avatar of your own sometime down the road, so here's my short tutorial on how to make a paintball avatar for a forum.

To start off you will need a picture, it doesn't matter what size it is, you'll be resizing it anyway to make the file less than 8kb, that is if the forum you use requires it to be. After you find a picture open your photo editing software, whether it be Jasc Paint Shop Pro, Adobe, or just Microsoft Paint, open it and load your picture. If you are experienced in using your photo editing software then you probably know where the "Resize" option is located. If you don't then you can often find it under the Image tab at the top of the editing browser. If you are using Microsoft Paint, which can be found on just about every PC in the world, you'll want to go under the "Image" tab and select "Attributes." From there you will want to enter 80 for the width and height, which is the standard size for forum avatars, and hit "ok." Save the file and your done.

Go to your favorite forum and upload the picture. If you get a message that says the file is over 8kb, then you will need to save the file at a lower resolution. As far as I know you cannot do this in Microsoft Paint, you will need to use an advanced photo editor. To decrease the resolution you can either decrease the "color depth" or "run optimizer." To run the optimizer, simple open the image, select "save as" and then select "options" before you save. You will need to decrease the resolution, and once the file size is smaller than 8kb save the file and try uploading it again to the forum.
