How to Increase the BPS of Your Paintball Gun

Paintball gun BPS Depending on the type of paintball gun you use, there is almost always something you can do to increase its speed (BPS).

Each type of paintball gun, electronic to mechanical can be modified to increase BPS. Some paintball guns only require aftermarket accessories to make them faster while others take a little tinkering.

Increase BPS for Mechanical Paintball Guns
If your paintball gun is mechanical, meaning it doesn't use electronics to operate, there are a couple of things you can do to make it faster, one of which is to shorten the trigger pull. You can find tutorials on how to do this to your paintball gun by visiting your guns "owners group," or by visiting a forum that is specific to your marker. Both of which should have a tutorial on how to do it, a process that will probably involve messing with the trigger spring and shortening the distance between the trigger and sear.

Secondly you can purchase an aftermarket trigger (if sold), preferably a double trigger that will increase your fingers leverage over the sear. A secondary option to this is to buy an electronic trigger kit. You can find these for Tippmann and Spyder markers as well as some other paintball guns.

The third thing you can do doesn't really involve your paintball gun, but involves strengthening your trigger fingers.

Increase BPS for Pump Paintball Guns
Increasing the speed of a pump paintball gun is pretty simple. The biggest thing you can do is to shorten the pump stroke. You can do this by cutting the pump arm down to size, but again, you should visit your pump owners group for the specific tutorial written by someone else who owns your gun. You can also mess with the trigger spring to soften the pull and reduce the distance between the trigger and sear to make the trigger pull shorter.

Increase BPS for Electronic Paintball Guns
Often, the easiest way to increase the speed of an electronic paintball gun is to buy and install an aftermarket circuit board. Most if not all electronic paintball guns have aftermarket boards available, just find the one right for your gun and enjoy the extra BPS.

Another thing you can do is upgrade the trigger switch to a switch that has less travel. Some electronic paintball guns have aftermarket trigger switch upgrades you can purchase, while others you will just have play with yourself. Again, check your owners group or forums for switches others owners recommend.

Thirdly, some electronic paintball guns have aftermarket trigger frames designed for maximum speed through ergonomic designs.
