Clothing & Protective Gear
Your paintball mask is probably the most important piece of equipment you'll have. Without it, you can't even step on the field. It's important that your mask is functional and that it fits well. If your lens fogs up, you will be pretty worthless on the field. A mask with a thermal lens can help prevent fog from ruining your game.
Your elbows and especially your knees can take a beating while playing paintball, a game where players are often sitting, kneeling, or crawling. Having elbow pads with elbow and forearm protection can help cushion your elbows and even take the sting out of a paintball hit on your forearm. Knee pads with added shin protection will give your knees some cushion from all the kneeling and sliding, take the sting out from shots to the shin, and keep you playing longer and stronger.
Neck shots can be the most painful in the game of paintball, let anyone who has been shot there tell you. There's no doubt that most of the people who weren't wearing a neck protector wished they had some kind of protection there after the hit took place.
Whenever your gun is out, so are your hands, gloves offer good protection for your fingers and your hand. Some gloves are full, some only cover 3 fingers, and some cover just half of the hand. Some players prefer not having their trigger finger(s), or any of their fingers fully covered, as they feel it hinders their performance.
For those who want added protection on the field, there are paintball chest protectors that range from, "I didn't feel a thing," to, "meh, I felt it a little." Some only offer front chest protection, while others offer full chest, back, and even shoulder protection.
General eBay Buying Tips
- Check the seller's feedback rating. You probably won't want to buy from someone with a horrible feedback rating, so make sure they have a good one before you buy it. See what other buyers said about this seller.
- Read the description carefully. Read it all the way through and make sure you don't miss anything.
- Find out what the shipping cost is before you buy it. Don't wait until the end of the auction to find out that your shipping costs are twice as expensive as what you bought.
- Find out what payment methods they accept. Many sellers will accept Paypal as a method of payment.
