UPDATE 3/24/11: Ollie Lang hasn't updated his site in a while, and because of this, it has been pegged with malware. I would promote his ebook if he cared enough to take care of this issue, but since he obviously doesn't (because it's been there for freakin ever), I must remove all links to his site. If you were interested in getting his ebook, I'd recommend instead getting this book. It is an insightful read, and everyone I have loaned it to has really enjoyed it.

What do you care about in paintball? Some paintballers care about airsmithing, others want to learn the art of scenario paintball, while some wish to learn everything there is to know about the competitive side of this great sport.

The great thing is, a lot of what you care to know in paintball can be learned on forums, websites, and through specialized courses. Some free, some cost. Some written by smaller voices in the paintball community, and a few written by well known faces in the sport.

Power Paintball is a digital book written by Ollie Lang - a competitive paintballer that's been in the paintball scene for 10 years now. Ollie has played on some of the best teams in paintball, of which have earned top spots in the world.

If you are into learning more about becoming the best player you can be in paintball - regardless of whether you play woodsball or speedball, and enjoy a good read on an activity you love, then give Ollie's book a read.

Unlike traditional books which cost much more to publish and bring to paintballers that care to read, Power Paintball is in an easily distributed downloadable format.

By offering it in a downloadable version Ollie is able to get professional tips into the hands of paintballers around the world without the hassles of traditional publishing methods.

If you find you don't like Ollie Lang's digital book after reading it, you can get your money back. Give it a read, if don't learn anything, get a refund. However, I can't imagine not learning anything from someone who's at the top...

Read Ollie Lang's Power Paintball.

This 4 part mini series is just 15 minutes long and packed full of great tips.
Mindset, shooting off the break, snap shooting, and shooting on the move are all key components of paintball. As Todd says in the videos below, do the right drills to practice these key components and you too can play like a pro.

Episode 1 - Mindset and mental preparation

Episode 4 - Shooting on the move, how to practice it, and keys to doing it.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQeZHa-Q3vg

Dynasty has become an excellent source of paintball tips for paintballers that want to make it to the top. A lot can be said about the advantages of learning from someone who has done it before you. If you are really serious about the sport, then Ollie Lang's guide on playing like a pro is worth looking into. He's been there, he's done it, and the tips he has to share in his book will make you a better paintballer.

These are the moments in paintball we dread, they keep us from our hour of glory, and make us question "why? Why THEN, why ME, Why!?"

1. You make a miraculous move and get to an advantage point, the other team is ready for the taking, unaware you are about to waste them. You take a deep breath, exhale and come out from behind your cover ready to waste everyone in sight, only to break a paintball in your barrel turning it into a salad shooter. The worst part is... your teammates aren't there to help, and now the entire enemy team knows your position.

2. You go lone wolf and sneak up behind the enemy team. Unsuspecting and just within your grasp you move a little closer to guarantee you don't miss. Just as you are getting close, either you make too much noise or someone's 6th sense goes off. You get blasted.

3. You slide after a big move, only to break paintballs in your hopper or something awesome on your paintball gun. You lose focus on the game because lets face it, you lost money. Pissed vaguely describes how you feel. You wish you never dove in the first place.

4. Your entire team gets eliminated, leaving you alone against a full enemy team. Your bunker is getting wasted, I mean wasted, leaving you stuck behind it. The sheer excitement of the other team causes a race to get the last one out. You. It ends in a massive drive by.

You know you are really having a bad day if all 4 instances happen. If they do, just set down your gun and try to think of all the times you've been on the giving end. After all, they don't happen that often... unless you suck.

This article is for both those that want to find cheap broken paintball guns for sale, and also a guide for how you can fix a broken paintball gun. Just because its broken does not mean all hope is lost, hang in there, this article should help.

For the technically savvy, broken paintball guns are an outlet to let that talent shine. Now if taking apart your paintball gun doesn't get you a little excited, relax, tinkering isn't for everyone. If you fit in that class, and you have no clue how your paintball gun works, then fixing a broken paintball gun can be extremely frustrating. There are a couple of things you can do to help ease the troubleshooting process...

Visit the owners group for your paintball gun. Owners groups are a place where others that own your paintball gun can share pictures, tips, and mods. It's also a great place to find troubleshooting guides. Most problems are common, chances are someone else who owns your paintball gun has gone through a similar problem and troubleshooted it. If you can't find a troubleshooting guide on the owners group website, then post your problem in the forum, someone will surely help. Go here for a list of paintball gun owners groups.

Read the Manual. It came with your gun for a reason. Although it may be a little vague and only show you how to troubleshoot a couple of problems, it still should give you a good idea on how to fix basic problems. Most problems are user caused, so when you go through the manual be sure to read how your paintball gun operates. Who knows, maybe you forgot to lube it or set the regulator too high? Those questions can be answered in the manual.

Contact the company that made your paintball gun. Most paintball gun companies offer tech support, which is a valuable asset to anyone who failed to find the answer in the manual or at the owners group website. Give them a ring and give their tech guy something to do.

Mike from TechPB made a quick video that offers some similar tips on how to go about fixing a broken paintball gun. You can find more of his helpful videos at his website www.techpb.com

www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx2NoIyPOgY

Now what if all of the above fails? What if you've tried just about everything and nothing works? Either ship it to someone who knows how to fix it, or sell it. Take a moment to think about how much trouble your paintball gun has caused you, if its an immense amount SELL that beast. Its brought you nothing but trouble, why waste valuable time trying to fix something that keeps breaking down? Its an unnecessary stress that keeps you from enjoying the game.

Thanks for reading and hope the tips helped. If you came to this page to find broken paintball guns for sale, you can find some below. As I am writing this I see a couple for .99 cents... that's not bad, considering if you fixed it you could make some profit reselling it.

Want to know how or where to fill your paintball co2 tanks? These are the questions we all ask when we first get into paintball, and fortunately below you can find the answers.

Where to Fill Your Paintball Co2 Tank - The most common place to get a co2 tank filled for paintball use is a local paintball store/field. A helpful tool for finding a paintball field or store near you is Google Maps. Search for "paintball" along with your town, city, or state, and all known locations should appear on the map. Cost for filling your paintball co2 tank varies by size of the tank and from place to place. I usually am willing to pay $2.00 - $4.00 for a 20oz tank, anything over is a ripoff in my opinion.

How to Fill Your Paintball Co2 Tank
Complications can arise of course if the nearest paintball store or field is 2 hours away. We used to drive an hour to get our co2 tanks filled, and soon decided it was too much of a hassle. We decided filling our own co2 tanks was the next best bet, and heck, we even got the chance to make a couple extra bucks by offering the service to other paintballers.

To fill your own co2 tanks you will need a bulk co2 canister, 20-35 pounds should do the trick if you plan on filling others co2 tanks. These can last anywhere from 30 to 40 fills depending on the size of paintball tanks you are filling (9oz - 20oz). You can pickup and rent a pre-filled bulk co2 canister at a local welding shop, or have Airgas or any other co2 deliver you one. Expect to fill out a liability contract, and to pay a yearly rental insurance fee for however many bulk co2 tanks you want.

The next two things you will need is a co2 fill station and a scale. Co2 fill stations hook directly to the bulk cylinder and allow you to safely transfer co2 to smaller co2 tanks. A scale allows you to keep track of how many ounces you have put into the tank you are filling. I have found that postage scales work best as they are the most accurate and sensitive as far as reading ounces go. A scale that reads up to 10 pounds is all you will need.

Obviously, filling paintball tanks on your own is not for everyone, but for those that do not have the luxury of having a paintball field or store in their area it may be the next best option. If you do choose to go that route please be safe, as bulk co2 tanks pack some serious pressure.

If it hasn't happened to you yet chances are it will sooner or later. Co2 tanks get stuck for two reasons, either because the co2 tank was screwed in too tight, or the o-ring tore off and pinched in between the threads and the ASA. Either way, your still stuck with getting the tank off, here are 3 ways to guarantee success.

Two tools come in handy for this situation; a rubber strap wrench (the kind that wrap around things and tighten for maximum grip), and a monkey wrench. If you have neither of these then continue to the bottom for an alternative solution.

Rubber Strap Wrench
Wrap the band around the tank and tighten it so the band won't slip when you twist the tank. The tank should come off extremely easy with one of these tools, just twist and viola. They come in handy especially for those tanks that do not have valves you can size a monkey wrench over. Despite what the above picture is showing, it is pretty hard to twist the tank itself off the valve, so don't worry about that when doing this.

Monkey Wrench
You'll need a large enough monkey wrench to size around the nozzle of the Co2 tank. Once fitted twist the tank to the left to loosen it (righty tighty lefty loosy).

WD-40 and Something Rubber
If you have neither wrenches above then grab a can of WD-40 or some kind of lube and apply it into the ASA where the Co2 tank is screwed in. Let the lube set for a while. Grab something rubber that you can use to grip the tank tightly. The bottom side to a mouse pad works great for this, just wrap it around the tank and grip tightly, then twist to the left. If that doesn't work then you might want to consider buying a band wrench.

What you won't find in this review is fluff. I tried to keep this as real as possible by presenting you with information that you can use to form your own opinion about 5 Hour Energy. I do provide my opinion at the bottom of this post, but in no way am I trying to sell you on it, that is a decision I wanted to leave up to you. On the other hand...

If You Are Already Interested in Trying 5 Hour Energy, Click Here to Get a 12 Pack For Just $22.70 - Shipping Included (That's Just $1.89 Per Bottle, Gas Stations Charge $3)

The 5-Hour Energy drink has found its way into gas stations and retail stores across the country. What makes this energy drink different is it comes without the "crash" other energy drinks are known for. A closer look at the daily value percentages on the supplement label reveals some off-the-chart percentages that definitely raise some questions, but we'll get to this later.

First off, why is there no crash?

The homepage for 5-Hour Energy states that sugars taken in excess of 20mg per serving increases blood glucose levels. Insulin is responsible for regulating blood glucose levels in the body, and a transition from high glucose levels to stabilized glucose levels can create the crash effect. It is because of this constant battle for homeostasis is why sugar is merely a short-term source of energy, and why people feel so tired after an hour or two of consuming large quantities of it.

How much caffeine is in 5 Hour Energy?

The real source of energy in most energy drinks is caffeine, a stimulant that has been used to wake up society for ages. Any more than 500 to 600mg of caffeine (6-7 cups of coffee) a day however can induce side effects such as light-headedness, diarrhea, rapid heartbeat and even irritability. The good news is a bottle of 5-Hour Energy contains what they claim to be an amount “comparable to a cup of the leading premium coffee,” which after research I found to be around 200mg, an amount still under the maximum milligrams recommended. Since the caffeine is under the maximum amount, it should provide the user with increased alertness and reduced fatigue.

I Still Don't Know How Much Caffeine is in 5 Hour Energy Extra Strength... But One Thing's For Sure - It is Definitely NOT For the Faint of Heart

Whats different about 5 Hour Energy?

The confusing part however is that unlike other energy drinks, 5 Hour Energy does not contain carbohydrates, yet they claim it provides energy. Is the caffeine enough to provide sustained 5-hours worth of energy? In part, yes, it can if you have an available supply of fatty acids, which caffeine is known to release to feed muscles for energy. You could expect to get energy for a good time period, but for sustained energy carbohydrates will be needed. The combination of caffeine and B Vitamins, which work to convert proteins, carbs, starches, and fats into energy makes this supplement a good candidate to take before a meal. Many doctors insist taking B Vitamins before meals to get maximum effect, the same goes for amino acids.

Is there anything wrong with 5 Hour Energy?

After sifting through all of the information on the 5-Hour Energy homepage you can’t help but feel enticed to buy a couple to try out. They seem to have everything you need to keep on going, but what still has me concerned is the 2000% daily value of B6 and the 8333% of B12. All other ingredients including the amino acids are in amounts considered to be healthy, but what about the amount of B Vitamins? The 5-Hour Energy website has a nice explanation for those that are concerned about taking a large dose of Vitamin B. They simply state that the B Vitamins in their supplement; B6, B12, B3, and B9 are water soluble, any amount that is not absorbed is “expelled with no toxic effects.” They even go on to say that those on B vitamin therapy take even higher doses. Sounds convincing right? What they fail to explain is that water, an essential ingredient that is needed to expel unused B Vitamins, should be mega-dosed to offset the mega-dose of B Vitamins in a 5 Hour Energy shot. Contrary to belief, it is possible to overdose on Vitamin B. Overdosing on Vitamin B happens when intolerable amounts are taken over a long period of time which can result in headache, dizziness, fainting, yellowing of skin, and temporary nerve/brain damage that can last 3 months to 3 years. I could not find a consistent number defining a toxic amount, as it seems to be different for everyone. One case for toxicity reported 5,500mg for one dose, while another reported 500mg over a period of time (3 months or so), which happens to be the equivalent of B12 in one bottle of 5 hour energy. The recommended daily dose for B3 is 6mg, .8 for B6, and 30mg for B12. The amount of B3 in a 5 Hour Energy drink is 30mg, 40mg of B6, and 500mcg of B12.

It seems the number of ingredients in 5 Hour Energy shots work together in more ways than I can piece together. In my assessment I did find that the amount of B Vitamins could potentially lead to an overdose. In the most extreme case, if taken daily and over a period of time 5 Hour Energy shots could very well cause temporary nerve/brain damage (in the most extreme cases). Symptoms such as numb hands and feet are signs of toxic levels. Aside from that, the combination of ingredients and a healthy amount of water should result in 5 hours of energy if fatty acids and carbs are available for synthesis, and the user has not desensitized themselves to the effects of caffeine.

So does 5 Hour Energy Work?

Yes, it will, as long as you aren't a heavy user of caffeine, and supply your body with some carbs you should in theory get hours worth of energy and focus from the amino acids in 5 Hour Energy.

Should you be worried about side effects?

As with anything, you should exercise moderation. You can expect side effects if you take 2 of these a day for 30 days, but who does that? For the paintballer who needs energy for a big game or tournament, 5 Hour Energy is perfect and should do wonders for you.

So there you have it, the lowdown on 5 hour energy, and hopefully the answers to all of the questions you have about this ultra-popular energy drink.
If I earned a dollar for every over priced listing on PbNation, or any other paintball forum in the B/S/T section, I'd be a millionaire, thus making this is the million dollar tip.

Sell your paintball guns and gear at a REASONABLE price

Sometimes its best to just let buyers decide how much your gear is worth. This is what makes selling on eBay so great, because if you've created your .99 cent starting bid listing right you should get a slew of bidders willing to pay fair-market-value for your paintball gear.

If selling on a forum, see what kind of offers you can get. Never set a minimum, why? Because that's exactly what you'll get. Give a reasonable price with some cushion added so posters can do what they love best - haggle you down. When they haggle you win, why? Because more posts on your thread means more exposure for you as it will be continually listed at the top in the B/S/T forum.

Want to see an example of an unreasonable price? Take a look at the picture of the modified Brass Eagle Talon at the top left, pretty cool huh? Well, not so cool after you see what the owner wants for it...

SUPER CUSTOMIZED TALON: CUSTOM MADE 24 INCH BARREL, SOLID REAR RIFLE STOCK, BOTTOM LINE HOOK UP, WITH 3000 psi 51CUBIC INCH TANK, REWORKED TRIGGER INTERNALS AND PUMP, ALSO 12 VOLT HOPPER $1500.00 OR TRADE FOR DYE DM5 WITH AIR TANK

Ridiculous right? Who in the right mind would trade a Dye DM5, or better yet pay $1500 for a $20 paintball gun with cheap mods?

Don't be greedy, when selling your paintball gear always make sure you are pricing it a reasonable price. If you have no clue what you should charge, you can always do what I like to do; slap it on a .99 cent 7 day auction on eBay and let bidders decide how much its worth.

You could always splurge and buy everything you see that other paintballers have at your local paintball field, but thats not necessary. There really are only a couple of things you need to have in order to play paintball, the rest is just extra.

Paintball Gun
The type of paintball gun you get is up to you. You can go cheap, mechanical, expensive, reliable, electronic, its all up to you. Just be sure you do your research first and know what you buying. If you've never owned a paintball gun before in your life, then your best bet is to get a reliable paintball gun, like a Tippmann 98. Check out our Paintball Guns section for more info on other paintball guns.

Find cheap paintball guns on eBay

CO2 or HPA Tank
Most paintball guns can use both of these air sources, Co2 and High Pressure Air. Some however only use Co2, and others work best on HPA, which generally are the more expensive paintball guns. A general rule is if your paintball gun is cheap or mechanical then it uses Co2, if its expensive you are going to want to use HPA. HPA tanks are expensive and cost often over $100. Co2 tanks cost anywhere from $9 to $25. If you get a Co2 tank you are going to want to get a 16oz or a 20oz because they offer the most shots which means less filling on your part. The same goes for HPA tanks, grab a larger tank like a 68ci 4500psi HPA tank. HPA tanks are sometimes labeled as Nitrogen tanks, so don't get confused, they are the same thing (Nitrogen and Compressed Air are used to fill HPA tanks).

Find cheap paintball tanks on eBay

Paintball Hopper/Loader
Hopper or Loader, they are the same thing. Depending on your budget you can splurge and get an electronic hopper or stick with a gravity feed hopper. People get electronic hoppers because they feed faster than gravity hoppers, which results in fewer broken paintballs and no misfires (when a paintball is not fired from the paintball gun). Most electronic hoppers feed 15+ bps (balls per second - the rate at which a ball is fed), which is plenty fast for a mechanical paintball gun. If batteries aren't your thing then you might want to check out Archons Tacamo gravity feed hopper that feeds 11 + bps, it relies on just gravity and is cheaper than an electronic hopper. It also is fast enough for most mechanical paintball guns.

Find cheap paintball hoppers on eBay

Mask/Goggles
This is essential, as it protects your face, more importantly your eyes. There are two ways you can go with a paintball mask, you can go cheap and get a mask that has a single pane lens, or fork out a little more and get a thermal lens that won't fog up as easily. Masks fog up when it is humid or the temperature on the inside of your mask is cooler than the outside air. The heat of your breathe can cause condensation on the lens, but with a thermal lens this happens less frequently. Paintball masks can cost anywhere from $15 to $70 depending on the level of quality. Want to see some of the most popular paintball masks being used today?

Find cheap paintball masks on eBay

So all in all there are 4 things you need to get into paintball. Of course there are other things you can get, but they aren't mandatory. Things like a pod pack, barrel swab, or other paintball gear. You can get by without those things and get them later if you want to step up your game.
